| spa |
dc.description.abstract | The study presents the definition of the benefits of strength training on older people with rheumatoid arthritis, focused on determining the impact on their quality of life, functional capacity, and independence of this population. Additionally, clinical, and practical implications are established for approaching the pathology based on strength training.
For this, a documentary study is proposed to determine the benefits generated by strength training in the elderly with rheumatoid arthritis.
A narrative review was developed that allowed identifying the benefits of strength training in the elderly with respect to rheumatoid arthritis pathology. The primary sources of information corresponded to clinical and cross-sectional case studies extracted from the Pubmed/Medline, Embase, Lilacs, and Science Direct databases. For the analysis of the information, the PEDro scale, the STROBE and CARE checklist were used to extract the findings related to the object of the investigation.
It was determined that strength training positively influences the functionality, quality of life and independence of the elderly person suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, establishing its relevance as an intervention measure and treatment of the pathology of interest. Likewise, it is important to conduct an adequate diagnosis and prescription of exercise that allows an adequate intervention of the disease. | eng |
