dc.description.abstractLa presente revisión narrativa, exploró los estudios publicados acerca del tipo de imágenes utilizadas en las cajetillas de cigarrillos, como estrategia de información, educación y comunicación antitabaco, en diferentes contextos geográficos. Así mismo estableció en la búsqueda el cumplimiento normativo en cuanto a tamaño, color, rotación de las imágenes, contenido del mensaje, el entendimiento e inducción al abandono del cigarrillo, que generan las imágenes, para finalmente identificar los datos reportados en las publicaciones, frente a prevalencias de consumo con la aplicación de la estrategia educativa en mención. El objetivo del estudio fue describir el estado actual del desarrollo investigativo acerca de la utilidad de los pictogramas de cajetillas de cigarrillos, como estrategia de información, educación y comunicación antitabaco. Metodológicamente se desarrolló un estudio de investigación bibliográfica, tipo revisión narrativa de la literatura (integrativa), donde se seleccionaron artículos originales de estudios observacionales, experimentales y descriptivos, del tema objeto de la revisión. Los algoritmos de búsqueda incluyeron: ([« pictorial warnings on cigarette packs»{Mesh}]) ;(« pictures of cigarette packs »[Mesh]); (« effectiveness of pictorial cigarette pack warnings»»{Mesh}]). Las bases de datos seleccionadas para la búsqueda fueron Pubmed, Science Direct/Elsevier, Lilacs, Redalyc, Google Scholar. El proceso de selección de los estudios se realizó a través de un diagrama de flujo, bajo la metodología PRISMA, donde se identificaron, revisaron y eligieron los artículos que cumplían criterios de temporalidad, idioma, que permitieron incluir en la revisión un total de 69 artículos. La extracción, categorización y análisis de la literatura seleccionada, se realizó de acuerdo con los objetivos planteados. El desarrollo investigativo acerca de la utilidad de los pictogramas de cajetillas de cigarrillos, como estrategia de información, educación y comunicación antitabaco, evidenció en esta revisión narrativa, que están dados en países desarollados como Estados Unidos , Reino Unido principalmente; sin embargo es un tema de interés mundial que emergio aun mas con el tema de la pandemia, lo que visualiza diversidad de países del continente europeo, asiatico , africano y latinoamericano que igualmente han desarrollado inestigacion en el tema, especialmente con trabajos de tipo cuantitativo con diseños experimentales y transversales particularmete. Se ha dado un desarrollo investigativo importante en el año 2021 frente al tema y ligado posiblemnte al tema de emeregencia sanitaria, como un factor de riesgo frente al virus SARS-CoV2. La búsqueda de publicaciones, frente al cumplimiento normativo en cuanto a tamaño, color, rotación de las imágenes, contenido del mensaje, deja ver poca estandarización de estos aspectos, a pesar de existir una normativa al respecto, en el marco de un convenio mundial para el control del tabaquismo; los proceos investigativos revelan interés en indagar frente a estos aspectos y su influencia en el hábito tabáquico, encontrándose igualmente divergencia en los resultados reportados. El entendimiento de los pictogramas educativos en salud utilizados en las cajetillas de los cigarrillos y la inducción que ellas generan frente al abandono del mismo, se referencian en términos generales como buena, particularmente cuando estas imágenes se complementan con el texto y cuentan con un tamaño cercano a lo establecido normativamente, sumado a que la literatura revisada la cosideran como una estrategia de bajo costo y accequibles para toda la población; sin embargo, se exponen hallazgos que hacen replantear la estrategia educativa, a partir de diveras variables que influyen en términos educativos, como la edad, el nivel educativo y cultural y las condiciones propias de cada contexto de aplicacion de la estrategia.De los estudios revisados existe poca evidencia que documenten datos reportados acerca de prevalencias de consumo frente a la aplicación de la estrategia educativa de los pictogramas, se muestran datos muy generales y expresados mas en términos de tipo cualitativo.spa
